Benefits
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) therapy is an advanced regenerative treatment that harnesses one of the most powerful proteins found in your body to accelerate tissue repair and cellular turnover. It is highly effective for both facial rejuvenation and hair restoration. In the skin, PDGF visibly reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars while drastically improving skin texture and firmness. For hair loss, it revitalizes dormant hair follicles to promote thicker, denser hair growth.
How does it work?
PDGF is a vital protein that regulates cell growth, division, and blood vessel formation (angiogenesis). In aesthetic medicine, highly concentrated PDGF—either derived from your own blood plasma or via advanced bio-engineered serums—is delivered into the target area, often paired with microneedling or laser resurfacing. Once introduced, PDGF acts as a messenger, signaling your skin’s fibroblasts to rapidly synthesize new collagen and elastin. By creating new vascular networks, it increases blood flow and nutrient delivery to the skin or scalp, effectively rebuilding the structural integrity of your tissue from the cellular level up.
Prep & Aftercare
If your PDGF treatment involves a blood draw (similar to PRP/PRFM), you will be advised to hydrate well beforehand. A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to ensure comfort. After the procedure, it is crucial to let the growth factors fully absorb; you will be instructed not to wash your face or scalp for at least 12 to 24 hours. For the first few days, you should use only gentle, approved skincare products, avoid excessive sun exposure, and skip strenuous workouts that cause heavy sweating.
Downtime
Because PDGF actively accelerates the body’s natural healing processes, it actually helps reduce the downtime of accompanying procedures like microneedling. You can expect mild to moderate redness, similar to a light sunburn, and slight swelling or tightness in the treated area. These effects are temporary and typically subside within 24 to 48 hours. Most patients feel comfortable resuming their normal daily activities by the next day.
Frequency
Frequency To achieve the most significant cellular regeneration, a series of treatments is highly recommended. For skin rejuvenation and hair restoration, most patients undergo 3 to 6 sessions spaced approximately 4 to 6 weeks apart. Because PDGF stimulates your body’s natural collagen production and hair growth cycles, results appear gradually over several weeks. Once the initial series is complete, maintenance sessions are typically recommended every 6 to 12 months to preserve your glowing skin or thicker hair.
