Benefits
The application of exosomes, which contain growth factors, cytokines and other signaling molecules after a microneedling procedure, affords significant benefits. Exosomes have the ability to promote healing and cellular regeneration and in addition accelerate the healing process and reduce downtime.
How Do They Work
During and after the microneedling procedure, the exosomes are applied onto the surface of the skin and diffuse through the channels created from the procedure. This affords a direct contact with dermal structures important in wound healing and regeneration such as the hair follicles and other skin appendages. This results in both an enhancement of the beneficial effects of microneedling as well as faster recovery times.
Prep and Aftercare
No specific preparation is required apart from that related to microneedling. An aftercare option is to apply half the exosome volume the morning after the procedure which may afford improved outcomes.
Downtime
There is no additional downtime related to the exosomes over and above that noted for microneedling which is mild redness and swelling. The skin may feel tighter and slightly dry and have mild peeling or flaking.
Frequency
The frequency of the exosome added treatments are related to the frequency of the primary procedure itself such as microneedling.
